Let’s chat about Wine

Disclaimer: I am a wine consultant for Scout & Cellar wines

I’ll be the first to admit that we don’t NEED wine to live. Consuming alcohol definitely has potential issues for some people. But, if you are like me and you enjoy a glass of wine periodically, then read on.

I had stopped drinking wine in 2014 due to negative effects from it. I thought it was the toxins and sulfites. I tried organic wines, I tried wines with no added sulfites…still I had issues. So I let it go, stopped drinking any and all wine, until…

In 2020 I tried what was touted to be “The cleanest wine you can find” by a friend - Scout & Cellar wine. Let me say ‘Yum!’.

I fell in love with the company and the wine. It was started by Sarah Shadonix, a female attorney in Texas that was studying to be a sommelier. She created a company that makes the highest quality wine I’ve ever consumed. The company slogan is Clean-Crafted and it is. It isn’t just that the grapes are grown organically, it is much more than that.

In her words:

  • create the highest quality wine available

  • non-negotiable benchmarks

  • sustainable production

  • many farmers use regenerative methods

  • farms are small family owned

  • no toxic pesticides

  • no artificial processing aids

  • no added sugars

  • three rounds of independent lab testing

  • finished wine must have less than 100ppm sulfites

  • soil-to-sip report

  • carbon neutral pledge

You won’t find a better quality wine on the market. And bonus…you can get it shipped right to your home! The customer service is top notch and I’ve enjoyed adding wine back to my life.

I still don’t drink much or often. But, when I do I love knowing that the wine is made how wine has been made for centuries, how wine is supposed to be made. Growing up in central California there were tons of grape farmers around us, most of my family made their own wine. I have seen it all. And trust me the conventional wine is not appetizing when you see how it is made.

This last year the company also started roasting and selling coffee that must meet the same rigorous standards and is tested for mycotoxins and mold - and as a nutritional therapy practitioner I appreciate that very much.

Side note: I cook with the wine as well and it takes a good dish over the top to amazing!

Cheers
