Easy Paleo Maple Breakfast Sausage

My entire family likes sausage for breakfast. But so many brands have added sugar, dyes, and chemicals. It is easy to make your own breakfast sausage, and you control the ingredients. I often double this recipe and freeze them for a quick and easy weekday breakfast.

You can adjust this recipe to your taste by trying different varieties of apples, or using honey in place of the maple syrup. Have fun and enjoy this easy addition to your breakfast routine.

I love this easy sausage recipe because it is full of flavor and not full of additives.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 Tbsp onion, minced
  • 1/2 apple, minced (I like Honeycrisp, but any will do)
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp ground sage

Instructions

  1. With clean hands mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Scoop out large ice cream scoop size and flatten.
  2. Cook in skillet on medium heat with a little oil. Cook 3 minutes per side, flipping to keep the syrup from burning. The patties are done when the internal temperature is 160 degrees. This takes about 10 minutes.
