Haole Brownies (Paleo)
In Hawaiian ‘haole’ means a person who is non-Hawaiian, especially a white person. Our favorite restaurant for plate lunch serves haole brownies. I thought that was funny they called them haole instead of blondie. So, I decided to make my own version.
This recipe is worth turning the oven on in the summertime!
These are moist and light, not quite as rich as regular chocolate brownies. I hope you enjoy.

Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups almond flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- 2 Tbsp ghee
- 3 Tbsp coconut sugar
- 1 egg, room temperature
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 1/3 cup creamy almond butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ½ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare an 8 inch square pan with parchment paper. I like to add just a dollop of oil the paper to prevent sticking.
- In a medium bowl add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir
- In a small bowl add the ghee, sugar, egg, syrup, almond butter, and vanilla. Stir until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until smooth.
- Add the chocolate chips and stir to incorporate.
- Pour the batter into the pan.
- Bake for 18 minutes. Turn pan around halfway through. Check with toothpick when it comes out clean it is done.
- Allow brownies to cool in the pan at least 20 minutes.
Notes
You can use white chocolate chips to keep the haole brownies more white if you like. I personally prefer the flavor of regular chocolate chips ;)
